How the grade is built
The pipeline matters more than any single tool
Color Wheels, Curves, Qualifier and Resolve FX do not create a stable result by themselves. What matters is the order, the signal state and what each node passes to the next stage. That is why the node pipeline has its own major place in the encyclopedia.
Input state
Know the incoming camera, gamma or timeline state before changing anything.
Technical transform
CST, ACES or RCM bring the signal into a usable working state.
Primary balance
Exposure, contrast, temperature and neutral balance establish a clean starting point.
Secondaries
Skin, sky, product colours and isolated fixes belong on dedicated nodes.
FX and finishing
