Assembly steps

  1. 1.Create a Text+ node and start with a reasonably bold typeface so the luminous core remains readable.
  2. 2.Add Glow with a restrained size and gain. Build the light around the letters instead of turning the whole word into a blur.
  3. 3.If you need a wider halo, duplicate or branch the text and use Soft Glow as a secondary, broader layer.
  4. 4.Composite the result over footage or a Background with Merge, then adjust brightness and color in context with the actual shot.

Common mistakes

  • Using so much Glow that the letterforms lose their readable center.
  • Placing the neon over a background with no tonal separation, so the glow disappears.
  • Choosing very thin typography and expecting the glow alone to create a strong neon tube.
