NewEye

NewEye belongs to the stereo tools in Fusion Studio and DaVinci Resolve Studio. It needs left and right images with matching disparity channels rather than an arbitrary photograph and a depth mask. Generate the channels with Disparity or load correctly mapped AUX channels from OpenEXR.

Separate mode provides Left Input and Right Input plus independent Left Output and Right Output connectors. In Stack Mode, feed the packed pair to Left Input and use Left Output. The compact connection guide below illustrates the Left branch; the practice examples include both output branches.

Enable activates reconstruction for that eye. Turning off Left Enable preserves the original left view while rebuilding the right one. The Resolve 21 manual defines −1 as the left viewpoint, 0 as the midpoint and +1 as the right viewpoint. The 0 shown in the archived Inspector does not mean that the left eye is passed through unchanged.

Source Frame and Warp Direction separates the color source from the displacement-field direction. Forward uses left-to-right disparity and Backward uses right-to-left disparity; Left and Right select the source eye color. Combining warps may fill different regions, but inconsistent fields can also produce doubled contours.

At overlapping depths, Depth Ordering chooses disparity precedence. No setting suits every map: inspect a foreground boundary against its background. Clamp Edges stretches the frame boundary and only helps with small gaps; it cannot recover detail hidden behind an object.

Changing the viewpoint makes the previous AUX channels invalid. The NewEye introduction and stereo workflow section explicitly describe disparity being consumed: generate another Disparity for subsequent calculations. The same manual contradicts these sections in its Outputs paragraph, so the pipeline must not rely on that paragraph promising new disparity.
