Swizzler
Layer and channel routing patch panel
Routes selected channel sets from chosen inputs and source layers into new output layers, making complex multilayer or auxiliary-channel rearrangement manageable in one node.
Swizzler
Overview
What Swizzler does
Swizzler is useful in EXR, Deep-support and technical compositing workflows where an image contains more than ordinary RGBA. Instead of manually rebuilding several channel operations, one node can map multiple source layers into a controlled output structure.
Each layer entry can be enabled independently, assigned a channel set and pointed at a specific input and source layer. This makes the node closer to a patch panel than a creative image effect.
Document complex swizzles carefully. The visual image can look correct while an auxiliary layer, depth pass or metadata-related channel is silently routed incorrectly for downstream nodes.
When to use it
Rebuild multilayer EXR channel layouts
Move auxiliary channels between inputs
Prepare depth or utility layers for downstream tools
Preserve main layers while adding remapped data
Centralize complex channel routing in one node
