Layer compositing
Combines a foreground image with a background image and is one of the most important building blocks in Fusion.
Merge
Overview
What Merge does
Merge is the node you use whenever a Fusion composition needs layers. The yellow Background input is the image underneath; the green Foreground input is the image placed on top. The output becomes the newly combined image that can continue through the graph.
A clean Fusion comp usually uses several Merge nodes in sequence instead of trying to force every element into one place. Text, logos, HUD graphics, light passes and masked shapes can each live in their own branch and then be combined step by step.
Most beginner problems with Merge come from reversed inputs or unexpected alpha. If a graphic covers the whole frame, inspect the Foreground source first: Merge can only composite the alpha it receives.
The image connected to Background establishes the output canvas size. A larger Foreground is not automatically fitted; it can be cropped by that canvas. Inspect both input resolutions before adjusting Size, and keep the final format separate from the visible size of a logo.
