Overview
What Ellipse does
Geometry, feathering and effect strength are separate decisions. Fit the region first, then its edge, then the operation’s intensity, for example with Merge Blend.
Do not treat equal numeric Width and Height as a guaranteed circle in every graph. Check pixel aspect, mask/source dimensions and an undistorted viewer scale.
Solid off with nonzero border width creates an outline matte. Colored graphics then need a Background → Merge branch; Glow, when required, receives that branch’s image rather than replacing it.
