Index
Selects the MediaOut output index.
Index 1 is the normal final output for most Resolve Fusion compositions.
Return the Fusion result to Resolve
Returns the final Fusion image back to DaVinci Resolve and is normally the last node in a timeline-based composition.
MediaOut is the output bridge from Fusion back to the Resolve timeline, viewer and delivery pipeline.
Overview
MediaOut defines which image leaves the Fusion graph. If a branch looks correct in a Viewer but is not connected to the active MediaOut, Resolve will not use that branch as the final result.
Most compositions need one MediaOut with Index 1. Multiple output indices are possible in specialized templates or technical setups, but they should be intentional and documented.
MediaOut performs almost no creative processing. Its value is structural: it makes the final path through a graph obvious and provides the handoff point back to Resolve.
Think of MediaOut as the output socket of the Fusion graph: whatever reaches it becomes the composition result that Resolve sees.

Contains the node-specific output controls.
MediaOut intentionally has very few creative parameters.
Provides standard Fusion node settings.
Use these for common node behavior rather than image styling.
Practical setup
Find the branch that represents the final result.
Connect that branch directly to MediaOut.
Keep Index at 1 for a normal timeline composition.
Check the Edit page or timeline viewer after returning from Fusion.
If the result is missing, trace the graph backward from MediaOut rather than from a Viewer.
Examples
A simple effect chain returns directly to Resolve.
Several elements are assembled before the final handoff.
