Automatic dissolve-based video looping

SeamlessLoop helps create an endlessly repeating clip by defining the loop duration and transition length, then blending the temporal boundary.

Overview

What SeamlessLoop does

Loop Length establishes how much source time belongs to the repeatable section. Dissolve Length defines how much of the end overlaps the beginning.

Fade Type controls the transition curve. The informational frame readouts help verify how much source material the selected settings require and where the effective loop begins.

The method works best when the beginning and end are visually compatible. No dissolve can fully hide a large change in camera position, lighting or object state.

Mental model

Think of it as folding the end of the clip back over the beginning and crossfading the overlap until the join disappears.

Practical setup

A reliable workflow

    Choose source material with compatible beginning and end states.

Troubleshooting

Common mistakes

Using source material with completely different start and end compositions.
Making the dissolve so long that motion visibly doubles.
Checking only one loop instead of several repeats.

Production notes

Practical tips

Trim the source first so the start/end states are already similar.
Use a shorter dissolve on fast chaotic texture and a longer one on slow ambient motion.
Check luminance continuity as well as motion continuity.
