SetMetadata
A name/value pair in image metadata
SetMetadata writes one named field into the metadata of a passing image. Inspect the result in the Metadata SubView: the write itself does not draw a label or perform color correction.

Overview
What SetMetadata does
The node works on image metadata inside Fusion. It does not rename the node, file, clip or Media Pool item. Find the new entry on the relevant node output in the Viewer Metadata SubView.
The supplied capture has two text fields. Field Name identifies the key and Field Value supplies the information. The BMD manual requires a name without spaces; the lessons use simple keys such as LessonShot, LessonVersion and LessonStatus.
One node defines one pair. To write several independent fields, connect several SetMetadata nodes in sequence and give each a distinct key. Inspect the table after every stage.
Order matters when several nodes write the same key. The lesson changes version v001 to v002; inspect each writer output. For normal work, agree on the field name and responsibility for changing it.
Text describing color space, a camera or status does not perform that processing. Writing LessonStatus=Approved does not fix the image, and an arbitrary dotted or slash-separated name does not establish a nested data structure.
A key present at a Fusion output is not proof that it will survive in a file. Test the chosen exporter and format by reading the result separately. The lessons do not promise arbitrary-field preservation in every container.
When to use it
Attach a readable shot identifier to an image.
Write separate version and status fields in a sequential chain.
Find the stage that changes an existing field.
Prepare a verifiable data convention between pipeline stages.
