Converts a selected channel into thresholded regions with independent threshold, softness, repeat and inversion controls.
Threshold converts a continuous channel into a controlled pass/fail range. Channel chooses the data being tested; Threshold and Softness define the boundary, while the lock controls keep channel behavior synchronized when the output must remain a clean technical matte.
Repeat and Ping-Pong can turn the threshold into a procedural repeating pattern rather than a simple matte. For transparent sources, use the render and premultiplication options carefully so hard threshold decisions do not leave dirty RGB fringes at semi-transparent edges.
Think of Threshold as a gate: values on one side pass, values on the other side do not. Softness controls how gradual the gate is instead of making it binary.
