MultiText

Multi-layer text composition in one Fusion tool

Creates multiple independent text layers inside one node with per-layer typography, layout and shading plus shared output and page controls.

MultiText behaves like a small text-layout system inside Fusion. A Text List stores multiple text layers, each layer can have its own font, style, size, color, tracking, paragraph settings and merge behavior, and the node outputs the combined graphic as one image.

Overview

What MultiText does

MultiText is valuable for titles, lower thirds, information cards and template-driven graphics that would otherwise require many Text+ nodes and merges. The layer list keeps related text elements in one controlled tool.

Typography controls cover font family, style, size, emphasis, color, tracking, line spacing, direction, kerning and ligatures. More advanced controls can manage stylistic sets, manual kerning and positioning when precise typography matters.

Because the tool also exposes merge/apply behavior and output-image settings, it can function as a reusable graphic component rather than only a text generator. Keep the layer naming and order disciplined when the template becomes complex.

Mental model

Think of MultiText as a miniature page-layout editor inside one node: several independent text layers are composed internally, then delivered as one Fusion image.

Selects the direction used by MultiText.

Line Direction

Sets whether text lines run automatically, top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top.

Reading Direction

Sets the reading direction used by the text layout.

Force Monospaced

Forces characters to use a fixed advance width regardless of the font’s proportional spacing.

Use Font Kerning

Uses the kerning information built into the selected font.

Use Ligatures

Allows supported character pairs to use the font’s ligatures.

Style Can Split Ligatures

Allows character-level styling to break a font ligature into separately styled characters.

Stylistic Set

Chooses an OpenType stylistic set supplied by the selected font.

Manual Kerning

Lets you adjust spacing between selected character pairs manually.

Manual Positioning

Enables per-character or per-fragment manual positioning for the text.

Merge — Apply Mode

Selects the Merge — Apply Mode.

Chooses the mathematical or operational mode used for this part of the node.

Merge Operator

Chooses how the rendered text is composited over the input image.

Subtractive/Additive

Selects or adjusts the additive behavior.

Alpha Gain

Scales the alpha channel.

Burn In

Controls how strongly the text is burned into or accumulated with the background.

Layout — Type

Selects the Layout — Type used by MultiText.

Layout — Center X/Y/Z

Sets Layout — Center on the X, Y and Z axes.

Layout — Pivot X/Y/Z

Sets the pivot position on the X, Y and Z axes.

Layout — Size

Scales the assembled text element as a layout transform rather than changing font size.

Align Layer — Align

Aligns the selected text layer quickly to an edge or center position.

Align To — Frame / Safe Margin

Chooses whether alignment is measured against the frame or the safe-margin area.

Rotation Order

Sets the 3D rotation order.

Defines the order in which the three rotation axes are evaluated.

Rotation X/Y/Z

Sets rotation on the X, Y and Z axes.

Shading — Fill Enable

Turns the glyph fill on, allowing outline- or shadow-only text when disabled.

Fill Color / RGB / Alpha / Opacity

Sets the overall opacity of the material or object.

Fill Softness X/Y/Glow/Blend

Sets horizontal and vertical Fill Softness.

Outline Enable

Turns the text outline on or off.

Outline Color / RGB / Alpha / Opacity

Sets the overall opacity of the material or object.

Outline Thickness

Sets the thickness of the text outline.

Adapt to Perspective

Controls perspective behavior for this operation.

Outside Only

Keeps the text outline outside the glyph shape instead of extending on both sides of the edge.

Clean Intersections

Cleans overlapping stroke intersections to produce a neater outline.

Join Style

Chooses how outline segments meet at corners.

Line Style

Chooses the stroke style used for the text outline.

Outline Softness X/Y/Glow/Blend

Sets horizontal and vertical Outline Softness.

Shadow Enable

Turns the built-in text shadow on or off.

Shadow Color / RGB / Alpha / Opacity

Sets the overall opacity of the material or object.

Shadow Position X/Y

Sets the X/Y coordinates for Shadow Position.

Shadow Softness X/Y

Sets horizontal and vertical Shadow Softness.

Page — Position X/Y

Sets the X/Y coordinates for Page — Position.

Page — Size

Scales the entire MultiText page as a single final transform.

Page Background Color / RGB / Alpha

Adjusts the alpha channel.

Use channel-specific controls when the operation should not affect all components equally.

Image — Process Mode

Selects the processing mode.

Chooses how the node evaluates or combines the source data.

Image — Width / Height

Sets the output width and height.

Pixel Aspect X/Y

Sets the pixel aspect ratio.

Depth

Sets the extrusion/depth of the MultiText element where 3D text depth is supported.

Source Color Space — Color Space Type

Selects the Source Color Space — Color Space Type used by MultiText.

Source Gamma Space — Curve Type

Selects the Source Gamma Space — Curve Type used by MultiText.

Remove Curve

Removes the selected gamma or transfer curve so the source is treated in a linearized form.

Pre-Divide / Post-Multiply

Controls premultiplied-alpha handling around the operation.

Pre-divide removes alpha multiplication before processing; post-multiply restores it afterward. This is useful when color work creates dark or bright fringes around translucent edges.
