Channel-based restoration against a reference floor
Restores or levels part of an image relative to a user-defined floor line, selected image channel and Up/Under processing direction.
Rest is a specialized restoration tool that evaluates a selected channel against a floor defined by two points. Amount controls strength, Floor Left and Floor Right define the reference plane, and Position chooses whether the correction acts above or below it.
Overview
Rest is useful for localized technical repair where a stable reference level can be described by a line across the image. Instead of painting a replacement patch, the tool derives its operation from the selected channel and the floor geometry.
The channel choice is critical because luminance, RGB and alpha can describe very different structures. Floor Left and Floor Right should follow the reference region as accurately as possible before Amount is increased.
Up and Under let you choose which side of the reference should receive the restoration. This makes Rest useful for structured cleanup, matte repair and channel-driven correction rather than general-purpose retouching.
Think of Rest as a repair tool built around a two-point reference floor: choose what channel to measure, draw the floor, choose a side, then control the correction strength.

Practical setup
Choose the channel that best represents the defect.
Place Floor Left and Floor Right along the stable reference boundary.
Choose Up or Under according to the side that should be repaired.
Raise Amount gradually while viewing the affected area at 100%.
Use a mask or downstream cleanup if the correction should be more local.
