Ripples
Wave and concentric distortion
Distorts an image with one to five ripple sources. Spatial shape, wave profile, phase and optional Shine are controlled separately.
Ripples
Overview
What Ripples does
Ripples belongs to Resolve FX Warp and processes an input image. Water, glass or pulse-like appearances come from displaced detail and optional Shine. It does not compute fluid geometry, collisions, lighting or reflections of your 3D scene.
Ripple Shape and Wave Shape solve different tasks. The first chooses the spatial pattern and the second the wave profile. For a useful comparison, change one menu while keeping Position, Amplitude, Frequency and Phase fixed.
Each of the five Ripple blocks has its own Enable Ripple, Position, Amplitude, Frequency, Decay and Phase. Disable unused blocks for the first test: coincident centers make each source contribution harder to identify.
Amplitude sets strength, Frequency wave density and Decay falloff. These are effect-control values; the manual supplies no universal conversion into meters, seconds or a pixel radius. Lesson settings need adjustment for the source and resolution.
For manual animation, disable Animate and set at least two Phase keys. For automatic animation, enable Animate and tune Speed. Compare each method separately first so automatic motion does not obscure the manual curve.
Shine is a separate simulated highlight overlay. Vertical Shine Height controls highlight thickness, Shine Size their length, Shine Direction their direction and Shine Strength their prominence. Assess the shine after tuning the distortion.
Effect Mask restricts application of the processed effect. It does not constrain propagation like a pool wall and does not replace Decay. For a local ripple, tune the source first, then the mask feather, and inspect the processed-region boundary separately.
Check RGB, alpha, thin lines and image borders during motion. Lessons use the existing Text+ tabs, steps and graphs. They describe expected checks; native rendering and numeric pixel values have not yet been confirmed.
