NVIDIARTXVideoHDR
RTX-assisted SDR/HDR tone expansion
Expands an SDR image for HDR using NVIDIA RTX. Establish the actual input and output color encoding before adjusting midtones, saturation and target peak luminance.

Overview
What NVIDIARTXVideoHDR does
NVIDIA RTX Video HDR is intended to prepare SDR material for an HDR project. It expands the range through a model rather than recovering measured scene luminance. A clipped SDR region may no longer contain texture that could be recovered faithfully.
Input Color Space and Input Gamma must match the pixels immediately before the node. If MediaIn, color management or an upstream CST has already transformed the camera recording, selecting the original camera Log would reinterpret the data incorrectly. Camera identity and file metadata alone do not establish the state at this Flow position.
Use timeline is convenient only when the signal has been confirmed to match the project settings inherited by the effect. It does not automatically identify every clip. For an initial reproducible test, use a known SDR source and explicit Input/Output Color Space and Gamma settings.
Output Color Space and Output Gamma establish the color encoding after the node. Once the result is Rec.2020/PQ, another automatic output transform must not treat it as scene values from a different working space. Decide where the effect belongs and define one consistent path to monitoring and delivery.
The archived Inspector shows a reference point of Contrast 100, Saturation 100, Middle Gray 50 and Max. Luminance 1000. These values are useful for comparison but are not a universal mastering preset. Hold the peak fixed first, then change one parameter at a time while inspecting faces, a gray ramp, neon and bright reflections.
View the HDR result through an appropriate display transform or a verified HDR monitoring path and scopes with an understood scale. Max. Luminance does not add HDR10 metadata to an export or enable the display HDR mode. Verify Deliver settings and the actual exported file separately.
Blackmagic lists the effect as Studio in the Resolve 20 feature matrix and specifies Windows with a supported RTX GPU and driver. The current RTX Video SDK page also describes 64-bit Windows 10+; SDK support does not prove that an installed Resolve version supports a particular GPU. Do not assume this node is available on macOS or Linux.
When to use it
Prepare a known SDR master for an HDR project.
Match an SDR insert’s midtone presentation to neighboring HDR material.
Compare luminance distributions at a fixed mastering target.
Choose locally between two HDR variants after bringing them into a common space.
