UnsharpMask
Overview
What UnsharpMask does
Sharpens by comparing the image with a blurred version and boosting local contrast around edges, with channel, size, gain and threshold controls.
Size sets the radius of detail being compared, Gain controls how strongly local contrast is increased and Threshold prevents weak variations from being sharpened. Small Size values emphasize fine detail; large values can quickly create visible halos.
Use UnsharpMask to recover apparent crispness after resize, denoise or mild softness, not to invent detail that was never captured. Watch skin, compression and grain at 100% because high Gain can make all three look harsher long before the shot looks genuinely sharper.
