sMerge

Combine multiple Shape streams

Combines several shape branches into one stream with layering determined by input order. Inputs are added as connections are made; sRender converts the result to an image.

sMerge

Overview

What sMerge does

sMerge takes shape data from generators, compound operations and other shape branches. It operates before sRender; use ordinary Merge for already rasterized layers.

The number of inputs grows as connections are made. BMD describes two initially visible sockets and the appearance of another free input. The reference shows Input1, Input2 and Input3 as a readable example of three connections.

Order affects appearance. The first orange input is lowest, the next green input above it, and the third pink input above the second. Test layering with overlapping opaque shapes of different colors.

Collection does not cut or intersect regions. For a geometric cutout, pass the assembled group to sBoolean as an operand and explicitly select Subtract or another operation.

Input shapes carry their own style. For a common appearance, place sChangeStyle after sMerge and check color, Alpha and Opacity separately. Its position determines which shapes receive the new style.

sTransform after sMerge adds a transform to the assembled stream. This is useful for moving a complete badge after its part dimensions and relative positions have been set at the generators.

The only node-specific control in the original PNG is Override Axis. BMD describes it as overriding the shape axis without giving an exact formula. It stays disabled in the planar lessons; no automatic centering or coordinate repair is attributed to it.

The output shape can be styled, replicated or used in sBoolean. Finish the branch with one sRender to inspect RGB and alpha. A single rasterization stage provides a consistent format for the assembled graphic.

When to use it

  • Build a panel from several geometric parts.

  • Control layering of overlapping colored shapes.

  • Assign a shared style to an assembled group.

  • Move a complete badge with a downstream sTransform.

  • Feed a group of cutters into sBoolean.

  • Reduce separate rasterization stages in a shape composition.
