Krokodove image repetition and two-layout shape morph (not classic [Dup])

Krokodove Duplicate repeats one 2D RGBA image along two shape layouts and animates the distribution with Shape Morph; unlike classic Fusion Duplicate [Dup].

Overview

What Duplicate does

Identity. The six original screenshots show a Krokodove Duplicate Inspector with Controls, Shape 1, Shape 2, Render, and Settings. Blackmagic lists Krokodove Duplicate among Resolve 21 Image Pixel Tools. Do not use the classic Duplicate [Dup] Copies, Time Offset, or Jitter manual here.

Input. Duplicate acts on a 2D RGBA image such as a small transparent Text+, logo, icon, or graphical mark. Repeating a full-frame plate usually produces dense overlapping frames instead of a readable pattern.

Captured Controls: Duplicates=16, Shape Morph=0.0, Combine=Average, Blur Size=0.0. Those are values visible in the saved screenshot, not a recommended preset for every composition.

Shape 1 Inspector shows Circle selected, Shape Size 1=0.1, Center 1 X/Y=0.5/0.5, Angle 1=0, Aspect 1=1. The settings describe the distribution pattern rather than editing the actual glyph or logo silhouette.

Shape 2 has independent Shape Size 2=0.1, Center 2 X/Y=0.5/0.5, Angle 2=0, and Aspect 2=1. The two descriptions can differ even while both dropdowns remain set to Circle.

The source menu captures list Circle, Line, Polygon, and Spiral in both dropdowns, but Line/Polygon/Spiral appear grey. Visibility does not prove that the choices are enabled; real menu selection must be checked in the target Resolve build.

A safe practice exercise stays with Circle in both tabs, changes Center 2 or Shape Size 2, and animates Shape Morph from 0 to 1. It teaches the two-layout approach without assuming any grey menu item works.

Shape Morph is an interpolation control: 0 selects the Shape 1 layout, and 1 selects Shape 2. Watch several intermediate frames to judge interpolation; keyframe smoothing can change the timing curve.

Combine offers Average, Maximum, and Minimum in the actual Controls capture. Average is selected there. Their overlap and alpha-channel math needs an actual render; do not treat a name as a proven exact per-channel equation.

Blur Size appears as one numeric control at 0.0. It is an effect blur amount and not a replacement for a separate Fusion Blur or Glow node with individual channel and filtering options.

Render/Edges offers Black, Wrap, and Duplicate; Black is selected in the saved screenshot. These affect boundary handling when image lookup goes outside the source image. Test visible seams, alpha, and RGB instead of assuming one mode is always seamless.

Ports. The pre-existing article names a 2D Input and optional Effect Mask. The six provided screenshots show only Inspector tabs, not Node Editor sockets; the exact tool ID, node port labels, and colors still need a live node capture. Diagram signatures are editorial contracts, not exported comp files.

A useful pipeline is Text+ → Krokodove Duplicate → optional Glow → Merge.Foreground, with footage or Background on Merge. Background and Merge.Output going to MediaOut.

If your installed Krokodove tool exposes a blue Effect Mask, connect an Ellipse/Polygon mask there to localize the effect. Shape 1 and Shape 2 do not substitute for an effect mask; they describe array distributions.

When Shape Morph is 0, changing only Shape 2 may appear to do nothing. At morph=1, Shape 2 dominates. Verify that the layouts actually differ before troubleshooting keyframe timing.

Classic [Dup] makes successive transformed image copies; Duplicate3D duplicates scene geometry, and sDuplicate produces shape-stream copies. The present page documents only the Krokodove 2D two-layout image tool.

Evidence boundary. The archived PNGs and Blackmagic Krokodove list verify the visible labels and scope. Disabled-looking choices, exact Combine/Edges pixel math, actual port sockets, GPU output, and premultiplied-alpha quality are pending live verification.

When to use it

  • Circular arrays of icons

  • Expanding logo rings

  • Morphing a circle to a differently sized or centered circle

  • HUD graphics from repeated marks

  • Decorative repeating titles

  • Masked local accents

  • Overlap and alpha comparisons

  • Edge-mode diagnostics

  • Density experiments with small glyphs

  • Conditional Line/Polygon/Spiral tests after confirming availability
