WarpedTransform

Transform plus nonlinear warp

Combines familiar 2D transform controls with an additional nonlinear Warp parameter and explicit render-quality options.

WarpedTransform sits between a standard Transform and a full mesh warp. It can move, rotate and scale an image while adding a controlled curved deformation, which is useful for stylized motion, soft perspective-like bends and graphic transitions.

Overview

What WarpedTransform does

WarpedTransform sits between a standard Transform and a full mesh warp. It can move, rotate and scale an image while adding a controlled curved deformation, which is useful for stylized motion, soft perspective-like bends and graphic transitions.

Mental model

Think of a normal Transform applied to a flexible sheet instead of a rigid card.

Common uses

Bend motion graphics
Create warped transitions
Add subtle curved perspective
Distort title cards
Animate soft deformations
Combine transform and warp in one node

Inputs & outputs

The port structure shows how this node fits into a Fusion graph.

Input

Source image for the operation.

Effect Mask

Optional mask that limits where the node affects the image.

Output

Transformed image with optional nonlinear warp.

Important parameters

Start with these controls before reaching for more complicated workarounds.

Controls / Use Size And Aspect

Uses separate Size and Aspect controls for scaling.

Render / Warp Linear

Biases the warp toward a more linear deformation response.

Render / Filtering / None, Pixel, Area

Selects None, Pixel, Area.

Render / Edges / Black, Wrap, Duplicate

Chooses how pixels outside the image boundary are filled: black, wrapped, or duplicated from the edge.

Controls / Center X Y

Sets the Center X Y position.

Controls / Angle

Sets the angle of the element.

Controls / Pivot X Y

Sets the pivot used for rotation and scaling.

Move the pivot when the element needs to rotate or scale around a point other than its current center.

Controls / Use Size And Aspect

Uses separate Size and Aspect controls for scaling.

Controls / Size X

Sets the horizontal scale of the warped transform.

Controls / Size Y

Sets the vertical scale of the warped transform.

Render / Warp

Sets the amount of nonlinear warp applied by WarpedTransform.

Render / Warp Linear

Biases the warp toward a more linear deformation response.

Render / Under-Sample Resolution

Reduces the internal sampling resolution to trade detail for speed.

Render / Filtering: None

Uses None filtering when the image is resampled.

Render / Filtering: Pixel

Uses Pixel filtering when the image is resampled.

Render / Filtering: Area

Uses Area filtering when the image is resampled.

Render / Edges: Black

Uses Black handling outside the image boundary.

Render / Edges: Warp

Uses Warp handling outside the image boundary.

Render / Edges: Duplicate

Uses Duplicate handling outside the image boundary.

Image / Output Size

Chooses the raster size of the WarpedTransform output.

Image / Clipping Mode

Selects the Clipping Mode used by WarpedTransform.

Keyframes

Provides keyframe controls for animating the related parameter.

Practical setup

A reliable workflow

  1. 1

    Set ordinary transform placement first.

  2. 2

    Add a small Warp amount.

  3. 3

Choose filtering appropriate for the source detail.

  4. 4

    Inspect edges during large bends.

  5. 5

Animate warp only after the base transform is correct.

Troubleshooting

Common mistakes

Using extreme warp where GridWarp would provide better control
Ignoring resampling softness
Animating Pivot and Warp simultaneously without need
Leaving edge mode on Black when the image must wrap

Production notes

Practical tips

Use subtle warp for polished motion design.
Inspect fine text at 100% after strong deformation.
For complex local bends, switch to GridWarp or VectorWarp.
