GridWarp

Editable mesh deformation

Deforms an image with an editable source/destination grid for detailed local reshaping and match warps.

GridWarp gives direct mesh-level control over 2D deformation, making it useful for cleanup, shape matching, beauty work and complex graphic transitions.

Overview

What GridWarp does

The node maps points from a Source grid to a Destination grid. Moving destination vertices changes where the corresponding source pixels land.

Grid density and subdivisions determine how much local control is available. More points can describe complex deformation but are harder to manage and animate.

Magnet tools help move groups of nearby points without editing every vertex manually. They are useful for broad, smooth deformation.

Mental model

Imagine a flexible mesh printed over the image: moving mesh points stretches the pixels attached to that mesh.

Show: Source / Destination

Sets Show to Source / Destination.

Magnet Type: Selected / Region / Magnetic

Sets Magnet Type to Selected / Region / Magnetic.

Magnet Distance

Sets the radius over which the Grid Warp magnet influences neighboring mesh points.

Magnet Strength

Sets how strongly the Grid Warp magnet pulls nearby mesh points.

X Grid Size

Sets X Grid Size for the Viewer/grid overlay.

Y Grid Size

Sets Y Grid Size for the Viewer/grid overlay.

Subdivisions

Adds interpolation detail between grid lines.

Higher subdivisions can make the result smoother without manually adding many control points.

Center X / Y

Sets the X/Y coordinates for center.

Angle

Sets the angle of the element.

Size

Sets the overall size.

Dst Edit: Edit None / Edit Grid / Edit Rect / Edit Line

Sets Dst Edit to Edit None / Edit Grid / Edit Rect / Edit Line.

Set Mesh To Entire Image

Resets and stretches the warp mesh to the full image bounds.

Copy Src To Dest

Copies the Source mesh into the Destination mesh.

Copy Dest To Src

Copies the Destination mesh back into the Source mesh.

Render Method: Wire Frame / Color / Render

Sets Render Method to Wire Frame / Color / Render.

Anti-aliasing: None / Low / Medium / High

Sets Anti-aliasing to None / Low / Medium / High.

Filter Type: Super Sample / Area Sample

Sets Filter Type to Super Sample / Area Sample.

Black Background

Fills areas outside the warped image with black.

Object ID

Assigns the Object ID written to the render passes.

Object IDs provide a clean way to isolate individual 3D objects after rendering.

Material ID

Assigns the Material ID written to the render passes.

Material IDs can be used later to isolate surfaces in compositing.

Set Image Coords at Subdivisions

Reassigns image coordinates to the currently subdivided grid.

Force Destination Render

Forces the result to be evaluated from the Destination mesh.
